The Eyes Have It!

July 27th, 2010

Same age as your friends–
Why do you look older?
Why do you always look tired, no matter how much sleep you get?
Your Eyes Tell It All……..

Many of my patients first consider plastic surgery when they notice the aging effect around their eyes. Due to the thin skin and multiple factors affecting the eyelid skin the aging process shows up here first. Check out what you are seeing….You may be seeing wrinkling of the upper and lower skin, excess skin–especially on the upper lid, or perhaps excess fullness/visible fat pads of the lower lids. All this leads to an older and more tired appearance.

Fortunately, many simple treatments are available to regain that youthful look. Most popular treatment (the blepharoplasty) involves trimming the extra skin of the upper and sometimes lower lids. The fullness under eyes–sometimes referred to as the “bags”, can be treated by removing that excess fat, or repositioning that fat pad along the hollowed area below the lower lid. Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes — Co2 laser resurfacing will smooth and tighten very effectively. In addition, elevating the brow/forehead can help open up the upper eyes and eliminate lines around the corners of the eyes known as “crow’s feet.” All of these procedures are easily done on an outpatient basis with minimal downtime as the area around the eyes heals the quickest of any tissue.

So, if you want to lessen the effects of aging or get rid of a tired look,
the Eyes are the first place to start.

–you know it…..Things that just make you go –Hmmmm…..
