Cosmetic Procedures That Fit Your Phoenix Holiday Vacation Schedule

December 8th, 2011

Holidays are such a special time of year because for many of us with family back in the cold country, this is the only time of year that we get to see some family members and friends. For that reason, you may be thinking of enhancing your looks with a cosmetic procedure before the holidays, especially since you can use your time off from school or work for recovery if you’re considering a surgical procedure. If you choose to do a procedure before the holidays to enhance your appearance, you should choose your procedure carefully because timing is important.

Fast Recovery
If you’re looking to freshen up your look with little down time, here are some great options.

  • Fillers are very popular during the holidays because they give significant improvement with fast recovery – sometimes just overnight! Fillers can be used for wrinkles, frown lines in the nasolabial folds (the lines around your mouth) and lip lines. They can make the lips more defined, poutier or fuller. They can also be used to raise a depressed scar (from an accident or acne). The fillers we prefer are RADIESSE ® and JUVÉDERM®.
  • Botox® can be used to smooth out the muscles causing crow’s feet and frown lines and alter or raise the shape of your brows. Botox® can relax some of the bands in your neck. It can even help with problem areas such as softening the downturned corners of your mouth. Botox® injections are done in a short office visit with results usually seen in three to five days. Since facial expressions are used to convey emotions, we prefer to soften wrinkles being sure to leave the face mobile.
  • Chemical peels are another choice when you are looking for a freshened look with a fast recovery. They can revive your skin in about a week with just one treatment. There are various types of peels depending upon your goals, so be sure to discuss them with us so we can recommend the best procedure for you.
  • One surgical procedure that can be done with a shorter recovery time is an upper lid blepharoplasty. This procedure can remove excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids and can reduce loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid.
  • A breast augmentation or breast lift can also be done if you have a rather short recovery window. With these procedures, healing can continue hidden under the bulkier clothes we wear during winter.
  • Body contouring with liposuction is a surgical procedure that you may be able to have with about one week off from a “desk” type job. Liposuction can be performed to the abdomen, midriff, flanks and thighs.

Longer Recovery
Most major facial cosmetic surgical procedures are good for people who can take off more time during the holidays.

  • Tummy tucks are popular for those who have more than one week before they have to return to work. The recovery time needed varies from about two to six weeks before significant strenuous physical activity can be resumed, so it’s best to have a consultation to find out what will be required specifically in your situation.
  • Facelifts should be done several weeks before you need to look your best.

With time off and socializing during the holidays, you should carefully consider your goals and your schedule to determine what is the best procedure for you. We encourage you to be honest with yourself and your plastic surgeon about how much time you really have and what you hope to achieve. There are so many options available, and we can help you choose a procedure that fits your schedule and your goals.
